Our inaugural case competition was a roaring success! We had 8 finalist teams representing several schools along the east coast, including the College of William and Mary, George Mason University, Connecticut University and George Washington University. Our 3 esteemed judges included Professor Billy Jack from the International Economics Department from Georgetown, Ms. Tania Ngo, the founder of MADIFF, and Ms. Priya Brapat, associate of Huminitas Global. Our Grand Champion for 2015 Innovation Marketplace hailed from the College of William and Mary. Their team proposed an excellent project that addressed mental health in Nepalese girls through detailed lessons and community service.
Thank you to all the participants that made Innovation Marketplace 2016 as fun and inspiring as it was! We heard amazing proposals ranging from the global burden of mental health to causes of climate change to microfinance initiatives. Special congratulations to our champions, Team Jakota from Swarthmore College on their astounding proposal to decrease carbon emissions in Jakarta. Our Runner Up, Group 2 from Howard University, on their compelling water filtration initaitve in Sudan. And our second runner up, The A Team, on their inspiring program to remove the stigma of mental health in Ghana, Africa.
